Diogo Dalot suggests coaching is better at AC Milan than at Man United

Diogo Dalot suggests coaching is better at AC Milan than at Man United

Diogo Dalot, a Manchester United loanee, has admitted he has no idea what will happen to him after returning from a season-long loan at AC Milan.

The Portuguese full-back moved to the San Siro to gain Serie A experience, but despite a promising start, he failed to fully establish himself in Milan's first team, and he appears to have failed to persuade the Rossoneri to extend his loan.

DON'T MISS:

Dalot appeared in 33 games for Milan, scoring twice and providing three assists.

In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the 22-year-old admitted that his year at the Italian club had taught him a lot.

On the field, I believe I have made significant tactical progress.' Dalot stated.

‘I learned some defensive techniques here, and it was fantastic to develop these skills as well.

‘But not only that: in attack, how to go into a high press and recover the ball as soon as possible... It's all very useful.'

It appears strange that the Braga man learned this in Milan, given that it is a key component of United's game plan under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Dalot was also asked what he had learned from head coach Stefano Pioli.

‘That the team must be focused for the entire ninety minutes and aware of every aspect of the game, of what is going on.'

DON'T MISS:

Again, Dalot's words could be interpreted as a criticism of Solskjaer's coaching methods, as focusing for the entire 90 minutes was something he did not learn at United.

If these are veiled criticisms of the United manager, it does not bode well for a second chance at the club, making a sale or another loan the most likely next step for the young star.

Dalot himself admitted that he has no idea what will happen next.

‘I must say that I had a fantastic year and met some wonderful people.' It was an honour to play for Milan,' he said.

'But now I'm thinking about the European [Under 21s] Championship, and I'm not sure what will happen after that.'
