Bastian Schweinsteiger sends message to Manchester United fans

Bastian Schweinsteiger sends message to Manchester United fans

Bastian Schweinsteiger has wished Manchester United luck ahead of the Europa League final.

The retired German international left United just two months before the club's previous title triumph in the competition in 2017.

DON'T MISS:

Schweinsteiger did play one group stage game on United's way to the final.

He has now sent his best wishes to the 2020/21 squad, stating that he will be rooting for the Red Devils against Villarreal.

Schweinsteiger was past his prime when he was signed by Louis van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho made it clear that he wanted him gone as soon as he arrived.

Mourinho's handling of Schweinsteiger did not reflect well on him, and by the time he was allowed to leave for MLS in March 2017, it was a relief to put the matter behind him.

DON'T MISS:

Schweinsteiger clearly has no ill will toward United and is hoping for success for his former team tonight.

The German was a teammate of Michael Carrick, who is now on the coaching staff, as well as Marcus Rashford, David de Gea, Paul Pogba, and Luke Shaw.

Former England striker Wayne Rooney has flown to Poland for the game, and former manager Sir Alex Ferguson is also in Gdansk.

Schweinsteiger's message demonstrates how, despite playing only 35 games for the club, he is proud to have been associated with the Red Devils, albeit for a short time.
