Paul Scholes has encouraged Manchester United to make an official move to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Erling Haaland this summer, saying that the Norwegian will be the "right" summer signing for the Red Devils.
Manchester United is expected to be linked with a slew of new arrivals in the coming weeks and months as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer continues to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Following his outstanding form for Borussia Dortmund this season, Haaland seems to be one of the most sought-after players this summer.
DON'T MISS:
The 20-year-old has 21 goals and five assists in 23 Bundesliga games this season, and he has 43 goals for club and country this season.
Scholes believes that Haaland will be an excellent addition to the Manchester United squad this summer as Solskjaer aims to build on his success at Old Trafford.
DON'T MISS:
Scholes said of Haaland in an interview with talkSPORT 2, as stated by Metro: "He's got that friendship with Ole, and we all know how fine he is."
“Manchester United are desperate for a number nine, a true center-forward.
Of default, Haaland will be the ideal candidate.”
“There are a lot of other names out there who might actually do that,” Scholes added.
With the City connection, you have to include his father as well.
In this case, that could be very powerful.
“But let's wait and see.
If he should transfer, I hope he comes to the red side of Manchester.”
Manchester United return to Premier League play on Sunday, hosting Burnley at Old Trafford.
