Michael Owen slams Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘negative’ tactics after Leeds United draw

Michael Owen slams Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s ‘negative’ tactics after Leeds United draw

Following Manchester United's 0-0 draw with Leeds United at Elland Road, former Manchester United forward Michael Owen slammed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for his "negative" tactics.

In an enthralling match in early December, Solskjaer's side defeated their opponents 6-2, but it was a game with little chances in Yorkshire.

The result is United's seventh 0-0 draw of the season, more than any other Premier League team.

And Owen claims Solskjaer's 'negative' decision to pair Fred and Scott McTominay in midfield led to the dull draw at Elland Road.

‘I was dissatisfied with the squad that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer chose,' Owen admitted to Premier League Productions.

'I thought it was a pretty pessimistic band.'

You're going against a side you've already beaten 6-2 in the Premier League, so you don't need two sitting midfielders.

To begin with, I mistook it for a derogatory comment.'

Solskjaer chose to start Paul Pogba and Edinson Cavani on the bench, with the pair coming on with around 20 minutes remaining.

The decision was taken with Thursday's Europa League semi-final against Roma in mind, with United hosting the Serie A giants at Old Trafford before the second leg in the Italian capital.
