Wayne Rooney insists Manchester United will never do anything to 'endanger their friendship' with supporters, after the club's announcement of plans to create a new European Super League.
A press release issued late Sunday evening reported rumors that United is one of the 12 potential founding clubs for the ESL's inaugural season.

The other clubs are AC Milan, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Tottenham, with three spots still available.
The Super League will be a midweek competition, with the 12 clubs hoping to start it as soon as possible.
As news of the Super League broke on Sunday, United did not respond to requests for comment.
Ed Woodward, the club's executive vice-chairman, was not there for their 3-1 Premier League victory over Burnley, and neither was the club's head of communications.

The preparations for a Super League have been strongly condemned.
Former United boss and captain Sir Alex Ferguson and Gary Neville effectively denounced Glazer's intentions by refusing to speak out about the family's toxic takeover of United in 2005.
However, league record-scorer and new Derby boss Wayne Rooney maintains that his former club will still make choices that are in the best interests of the fans.
"I can talk from having been at Man United for so long," he said.
"The last thing they'd like to do is jeopardize their friendship with their fans.
They'd like to keep them on board.
