Man Utd transfer news: Jesse Lingard to push for summer exit

According to EuroSport, Jesse Lingard is almost likely to demand a permanent departure from Manchester United this summer.

According to the source, the England international was unimpressed with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's lack of confidence in him before being loaned out to West Ham United during the January transfer window.

What is United's position?

Although David Moyes' side is believed to have attempted to pressure United into making a decision on selling him this summer, the Old Trafford giants are not believed to be in a hurry.

Instead, they want to see if the 28-year-old will boost his appeal any further, with a place in England's squad for the postponed European Championships this summer now a possible possibility thanks to his recent form.

Do they need him?

Lingard has clearly been one of the Premier League's standout performers since transferring to East London, scoring nine goals and recording four assists.

DON'T MISS:

Nonetheless, Solskjaer has choices in the attacking berths where the academy graduate can normally work.

Indeed, Bruno Fernandes, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, and Donny van de Beek can all play behind the striker, while Daniel James, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood can play wide.

Which clubs are interested in signing Lingard?

According to ESPN, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Milan are among the clubs interested in the player, although this EuroSport article indicates West Ham are keen to finalize a permanent contract as soon as possible.

What really is contracting status?

Lingard's contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer of 2022 after he signed a new deal in December.

The Athletic reported in January that West Ham was paying all of his salaries, which were estimated to be about £75k a week.

What has Ole Gunnar Solskjaer written about Jesse Lingard?

According to Sky Sports, the United manager characterized his loan transfer as a 'no-brainer,' but he also mentioned the number of options we had in Lingard's role.

"It has always worked out for Jesse, for David [Moyes], and for us as a club," said Solskjaer, who will not face Lingard on Sunday because he is not permitted to play against his parent club.

"We know Jesse's place is a 10, and we have Bruno [Fernandes] on the field."

For me, it was a no-brainer to get Jesse a chance to prove himself and play some football again. He has been really bright for them. He's finally back to himself."
