Man United considering move for Barcelona ace

Man United considering move for Barcelona ace

Owing to the club's ongoing financial difficulties, it is believed that Barcelona will need to offload players this summer.

Dembele may be one of the team members to leave, with United reportedly considering a €50 million (£43.4 million) bid to add the player to the Premier League.

DON'T MISS:

How has he performed this season at Barcelona?

This season, the 23-year-old has appeared in 25 La Liga matches, scoring five goals and making two assists (via WhoScored).

In Spain's top flight, he has accomplished 53 good dribbles, with only Marcus Rashford (80) completing more for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Dembele's total of 32 main passes has only been surpassed by three United players.

Is he a less expensive choice than Jadon Sancho?

Last summer, Manchester United was closely linked with Jadon Sancho but declined to sign him after struggling to meet Borussia Dortmund's asking price of £108 million.

According to Bild from TEAMtalk, Sancho's asking price has been reduced to £88 million due to the ongoing global financial crisis. This might entice United to re-enter the race for the England international.

However, Dembele has a much cheaper alternative that could be available in the coming months. If United will reach an agreement worth €50 million, they would have signed a player for half the price of Sancho, who is just two years older and has already won a World Cup with France in 2018.

Will selecting Dembele over Sancho be a wise decision for United?

It's possible.

United has recently been associated with a number of high-profile players, including Erling Haaland and Declan Rice. They should not, though, have an unrestricted budget and would need to carefully consider how much they can invest in order to meet their core objectives.

If United pursued Dembele rather than Sancho, they could save more than £40 million, which could be used to entice Haaland and Rice to join them at Old Trafford.

Solskjaer may have his favorite choice for one spot if he signs Sancho, but he may not have enough resources to improve other parts of the roster. Meanwhile, signing Dembele could help United to strengthen their roster in a variety of positions, making them a more formidable opponent around the field next season.
