Ed Woodward is the new vice-chairman of Manchester United, and he has released a statement thanking everyone he has interacted with during his 16-year tenure at the club.

"I am immensely grateful to have worked United, and it has been an honor to work with the world's greatest football team for the past 16 years," said Woodward.
The club is well-positioned for the future, and it will be impossible to leave at the end of the season.
“I will cherish the memories of my time at Old Trafford when we won the Europa League, the FA Cup, and the EFL Cup.
I am proud of the club's cultural renewal and our contribution to the Manchester United way of playing.
During my time here, we have spent more than £1 billion in the squad, and I am especially pleased with the improvements the players have achieved in the last two years under the astute leadership of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching staff.
“I am confident that with the improvements we have made on the ground as well as to the coaching and technical team in recent years, this great club will soon be winning silverware once more.
It is well deserved.

“During my time, I sincerely wanted the club to win the Premier League, and I am confident that the pillars are in place for us to reclaim it for our ardent supporters.
“Our world-famous academy is thriving once more, with 34 players graduating into the first team since 2013, and it has been a joy to see talents like Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Axel Tuanzebe thrive in the first team atmosphere.
“In the coming years, the club's pipeline of new talent will continue to challenge existing first-team stars for their positions.
This level of rivalry bodes well for the future.
“We have also formed Manchester United women, and their growth demonstrates the club's desire for excellence.
“The last 16 months have brought so many one-of-a-kind challenges, and the club's role in the city and around the world during the COVID-19 pandemic has been heroic.
“The financial burden on football clubs has been serious, but Manchester United has been one of the most robust and resilient in the face of unprecedented financial pressures.
“I'd like to thank Manchester United's ardent supporters for their help in both good and poor days.
"I know this has been a difficult time in our history, but your love for the team has never wavered."
