Paul Merson predicts the position where Man United will end this season

Paul Merson has added that he hopes to see Manchester United claim a four-match winning streak in the Premier League this season.

The Red Devils are now in second place in the top flight as they have struggled to close and close the gap on Manchester City leaders.

DONT MISS:

As everything stands, however, Manchester United are 14 behind Pep Guardiola men and the chances of them capturing the managers are slim.

Leicester City are just behind Manchester United in the table and the Red Devils will be keen on a second-place finish this season and winning their third-place finish by the end of the season.

DONT MISS:

Manchester United have been knocked out of the FA Cup by Leicester City on the weekend to exit the Europa League as they look to bounce back from a win this season.

Now, former Arsenal lawyer Merson says winning the Europa League and finishing in the top four would represent a good season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Writing in his statement to Sky Sports, Merson said: "People laugh because I keep saying it but Manchester United is the biggest club in football in the world, in my opinion.

“But they have to win. He went and hit Man City and stopped the run, but you have to kick and go and win a prize. Now the heart has been - they got Europa and that was it.

"I do not know what they are thinking at the top at United. I do not know if they were thinking 'just to get us in the top four, the game and we would get out of there.

"They went to the Champions League, I do not see them finishing outside the top four legs so Ole does not hold his position when teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, or Arsenal will not finish in the top four - It’s not as easy as it used to be to walk into the top four every year.

“It depends on what the owners see and what they want. If it were to keep the notes for them, to the top four, it would be a good job.

"For me, it was Manchester United and they had to win. But if they win the Europa League and get in the top four, which I think will lead to, I do not see anything wrong with that. "

Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they host Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
