Mark Lawrenson says his prediction for Man City v Man United

Mark Lawrenson returned to help Manchester City secure their 22nd win when Premier League leaders met Manchester United at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

The Citizens counted their 21-match winning streak in all competitions at half-time as Manchester City won 4-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers at The Etihad.

Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Riyad Mahrez helped Manchester City to victory over the Wolves despite Conor Coady equalizing in the first half.

Manchester City has not lost a point since the 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion at The Etihad back on 15 December.

Manchester United have lost to their city rivals in the title race after recovering from 15 points from their last 10 Premier League games.

Klopp is not afraid of running away if Liverpool miss out on the Champions League

The Red Devils have only managed to win five top-flight titles in 2021 so far following victories from Aston Villa, Burnley, Fulham, Southampton, and Newcastle United.

Manchester United is in second place but 14 points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League title race.

BBC Sport pundit Lawrenson is confident Manchester City will continue their winning streak against Manchester United at The Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Lawrenson told BBC Sport that now they must not prevent the city from winning the race,

"I remember in April 2018 when City took a 2-0 lead in this game at halftime and was about to hold on to the title, but United came back with a 3-2 win.

"It simply came to our notice then. A few days later the city was victorious.

“It's similar to the game. United have struggled to score late - they have drawn nothing in their last three games in all competitions - but if they do something out of it, it will be more important to their prospect of four than to capture the top City. "

Manchester City won 2-0 against Manchester United in their most recent League Cup meeting back in January.

The two teams played unbeaten in their Premier League meetings back in December.
