Cristiano Ronaldo's early life at Old Trafford, the Juventus star player struggled to cope with Sir Alex Ferguson's "hairdryer treatment", and one particular occasion left the Portuguese international in tears.
The situation happened during Cristiano Ronaldo's very first season at Old Trafford after he completed his £12million move from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner did not have a great game in his early football career against Lisbon-based side Benfica, and Ferguson believed he needed to be reminded of his duties and what it means to plan for Man United.
An excerpt from Guillem Balague's book the Portuguese superstar: The Biography states: 'in Manchester United dressing room, Ferguson could not contain himself:
"Who do you think you are?
'Trying to always do it alone playing by yourself? you will never be a player if you do this!"
'Cristiano Ronaldo began to shade tears. The rest of the players left him be.
'He needed to learn somethings,' said Rio Ferdinand. "That was a message from the team, not just from the coach Ferguson: everyone thought he needed to learn'.
Of course, as stated before, the pair's relationship was not always a bed of roses.
in fact, the Juventus star holds Sir Alex Ferguson in the highest regard, and in 2015, got emotional recalling the period the legendary Manchester United coach Ferguson gave him off to be with his dad.
Cristiano Ronaldo said to Jonathan Ross show: 'In terms of personal stuff I just have to say, "Thank you for the work you have done for me."
'Especially, I still remember, the things that are in my memory, the time my father was sick in the hospital and we were in a hard moment of the season.'
'we had very important matches in the European Champions League and on the Premier League, and I said to him, coach, I need to go and see my daddy.'
'And I was a key figure in the team, a very important player. And he said to me, "Listen, boy, your family is the most important thing you have in your life.
'If like to go for three days, five days, you are free to go.'
'This moment is what I keep with me because that was one of the most important moments of my life in Old Trafford. He shared it with me and this is why I respect him.
'And for me, he is the best coach I ever work with.'
