Partnering with Victor Lindelof, the African defender Baillyput in a good shout to displace the Swede at home to Tottenham in the English Premier League in the coming weekend.

While his partner Lindelof did not perform badly last night, Bailly's strength stood out.

He was very fast and always at alert to cover for Diogo Dalot, who always left defensive gaps, and made one successful sliding challenge inside the 18-yard-box at the start of the second half.

Right till the end of the game, Eric Bailly keeps on blocking a shot and heading it clear to protect Man Utd's clean sheet.

Transfer: Fabrizio Romano - Man Utd one step away from completing Alex Telles deal as personal terms agreed.

The yesterday Carabao Cup challenge with Brighton was much easier than the Premier League game at the weekend and this was as a result of strong defense put in by Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, and our keeper Dean Henderson.

The  Blackman made two interceptions and three clearances as Manchester United shut down Brighton's frontline.

His talents to see danger and react to it quickly contributed to limiting Brighton's chances. Manchester United just looks better defensively when he is in the squad.
