According to Football Insider, Manchester United are ready to sign the 16-year-old striker and have already agreed on personal terms with the player.
The young attacker will sign a professional contract with the Premier League club once he turns 17 in October.
However, according to some reports, the Red Devils must agree on a compensation fee with the Black Cats in other to get the deal done and that will be around £300,000.
In November last year, the teenage player made his debut for Sunderland's U-18 side and scored a goal against his opponent Middlesbrough in a contest that his club finally lost 4-3.
At the end of the lost football campaign, Hugill was promoted to the U-23 side, He made his debut in the English Premier League in February, playing against the Hammers and he also managed to find the back of the net twice.

Unfortunately, his side still ends up losing the game 4-2. So far, the youngster has not been able to win any match with the Black Cats.
We hope when the starlet joins United he will definitely progress to become a first-team star. For now, Man Utd current attacking force is not good enough and needs to be improved in the summer transfer window.
Man Utd scored 44 goals in 29 Premier League games which is not good enough. We had 14 more goals at this stage in the previous League campaign.
Man Utd stars forward Robin van Persie scored 26 goals in our title-winning season on 2012/13 but since then, no United player has been able to come close to that record even to score 20 league goals in a season.
Therefore, Manchester United needs a serial point-9 who is a goal getter for the next term and they must splash the cash to land one in the summer.
